Westenberg Wind Tunnel - Made in Germany - 0.3m/s to 35m/s

Air & Volume Flow calibration are conducted using an Eiffel Type Wind Tunnel from Westenberg.

The Eiffel-type wind tunnel is an open type without flow recirculation. In this design, the drive fan is located downstream, at the end of the wind tunnel.

The air is drawn in from the surrounding, still atmosphere via an inlet nozzle. It then flows through a calming chamber with a flow straightener (or honeycomb) and damping screens into the wind tunnel nozzle. In the nozzle, the air is accelerated to the respective air speed (or measuring speed at the outlet of the nozzle). This is followed by a closed measuring section / measuring chamber.

This is indispensable due to the negative pressure (relative to the environment) caused by the fan arrangement. The air then flows into the fan via a collector and diffusers. From here it flows back into the atmosphere.0.

The main advantages of an Eiffel-type wind tunnel can be summarized as follows:

  • No swirl from the fan
  • No turbulence due to deflection of the flow
  • Calmed air is drawn in the volume flow module
  • The temperature in the measuring section largely corresponds to that in the room or the surrounding air.
